This blog, SmartEnergyToday, was created to explore various ways that we as individuals can become more wise in our use of energy. With the cost of energy sources skyrocketing in the last several years, it has become necessary to look at our use of energy from both the environmental impact and the financial impact. For most families, the cost of energy to power their homes and cars represents a significant portion of their budget. This blog has several goals: provide simple effective tips for reducing energy, explore new innovations in energy, and provide details of my families successes and failures in reducing our energy usage.
The number one goal of this blog is to provide effective strategies that can be quickly and cheaply implemented to reduce our energy consumption. Spending a $1,000 to save $1.00 per month is a quick way to go broke, so we try look for strategies that have a payback of under two years.
The second goal is to look at new advances in energy conservation and/or generation. There is a lot of work being done on finding alternative energy sources. Most of these new innovations are still too expensive, but it is fun to see what is possible in the future. Eventual some of these innovations will become more available and affordable that we would consider using them.
Lastly, We will explore what works and what doesn’t work around our home as our family becomes smarter in our use of energy. We want you to benefit from our experience, so that you don’t have make the same mistakes.
